The HKBCF is next to the HKIA and Tung Chung new town which are at convenient location and with good transportation connectivity. With a variety of transport modes available in the proximity, the HKBCF will become a multi-modal transportation hub (including HKIA, SkyPier, Airport Express Line and Tung Chung Line) in the area.

The HKBCF is linked by the HKLR, the TM-CLKL and the Airport roads. The road traffic of the whole area will be well connected since vehicles can use another route in case any one of them is not available for whatever reason.
The TM-CLKL will release some capacity of the existing roads (including Tuen Mun Road, Ting Kau Bridge, etc.) , offer strong support to the logistics industry in Lantau and reinforce the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) as an international and regional aviation hub through providing an alternative route to the HKIA.
The HKBCF together with the HKLR, the TM-CLKL and the proposed TMWB will form a strategic road network, serving the public efficiently and effectively. The TM-CLKL will provide the most direct route between the NWNT and Lantau. It helps relieve the traffic along Tuen Mun Road, Ting Kau Bridge, Lantau Link and North Lantau Highway. Upon completion, the new route will significantly reduce the journey time between NWNT and Lantau. Also, it will be an alternative route linking the HKIA and the urban areas.
The travelling distance and journey time between Tuen Mun south and the HKIA will be reduced as follows:

The TM-CLKL will release some capacity of the existing roads (including Tuen Mun Road, North Lantau Highway, etc.) for urban bound traffic, offer strong support to the logistics industry in Lantau and reinforce the Airport as an international and regional aviation hub through providing an alternative land access for the Airport.
Compared with the other highway options, the TM-CLKL will provide better planning flexibility for possible future expansion of the road network from the NWNT to the urban areas in the long term.
